 Aberdeen
 Meals:  Breakfast and Dinner

After breakfast, we will depart for Scotland’s “Granite City”, Aberdeen.  On the way, we will  visit the beautiful town of St. Andrews. In the city’s now ruined castle, we will see the Bottle Dungeon where George Wishart was imprisoned.  We will also visit the location where Wishart and Patrick Hamilton were burned at the stake. We will also view St. Andrews Cathedral. Once the largest church in Scotland, this church had numerous prominent ministers–even John Knox preached here!  We will also have the opportunity to see Samuel Rutherford’s grave in the grounds of the Cathedral. After lunch, we will spend a couple of hours exploring Dunnotar Castle.  Perched on the cliffs near Stonehaven, one can enjoy breath-taking views from these ruins. Finally, we will drive by the Kinneff Manse near Montrose. It was here that the “Honors of Scotland”–the crown, scepter, and sword–were hidden from the parliamentary armies of Oliver Cromwell. We will arrive in Aberdeen in time to check into one of Scotland’s finest hotels–the Marcliffe Hotel and Spa. The Marcliffe at Pitfodels is a luxurious, relaxed and ultra-elegant five-star Scottish country hotel set in its own picturesque grounds on the outskirts of the historic city of Aberdeen in North-east Scotland. Since the officially opening of this hotel in 1993 by Soviet Premier Mikhail Gorbachev, the Marcliffe has earned worldwide renown as Aberdeen’s only five-star hotel.
